JBL Flip 5 Bluetooth not Working

JBL Flip 5 Not Turning ON/Off and Not Charging

  • Check the Power button: If your JBL Flip 5 isn’t turning off or on, you first want to check the power button. See if the power button is stuck or has dirt stuck in it. You can use a cotton swab to clean it up and a small pin to try to pull out the button to fix it.
  • Battery level: A low battery level would force the speakers to turn off repeatedly, no matter how hard you try. So, check the battery level, and put the speaker on charge if required.
  • Check the Power outlet: If your Flip 5 still seems stubborn to turn on even after you put it on charging, check if the speaker is getting charged. Sometimes a faulty power outlet may haul the charging process while you sit unaware of the outlet’s sneaky behavior.
  • Change Charging Cable: Another reason your JBL Flip 5 isn’t Turning ON, or charging could be the damaged charger or charging cable. If the speaker isn’t charged enough, it will automatically refuse to Turn ON. So, check the adapter and Charging cable for damages and replace the cable to start charging the speaker and to Turn it ON.
  • Clean the Charging Port: If you are living closer to a construction site, where your Flip 5 is exposed to dust and debris, there are chances that the dust and debris would get stuck in the charging port, hauling the charging process and keeping the speaker from Turnin ON. In this case, try to clean the Charging port with a swab of cotton or a small brush with soft bristles to clean the charging port.
  • Replacing Depleted Batteries: Finally, if your JBL Flip 5 isn’t Turning ON or Charging, it might be because of depleted or damaged batteries. Try replacing the batteries and then put the speaker back on charging to see if the trick worked. It might as well solve the issue of Flip 5 not Turning ON.

JBL Flip 5 Glitchy Audio

If you have several Bluetooth devices active while using your JBL Flip 5, there is a high chance of signal interference, which would create a glitch in the audio. So, turn off all the other Bluetooth devices to avoid interference.
  • Clean the Speaker: Dust and debris can do much more than expected from these specks! In this case, these almost invisible monsters can destroy the audio quality of Flip 5 by getting stuck in the speaker. You can fix this by cleaning the speaker using small brushes with soft bristles or a cotton swab.
  • Factory Reset: Now this old and renowned IT technique could solve hundreds of problems, including the one you’re facing. If your speaker delivers a crackling and glitchy sound, it’s time to shoot the Reset Arrow. Here’s how you can Factory Reset your JBL Flip 5.
  1. Turn on the JBL Flip 5 speaker.
  2. Press and hold the Play and Volume Up+ buttons Simultaneously for five seconds.
  3. Wait for the device to Turn off and Turn ON automatically as it restores to the default factory setting.

Give the Speaker a Break: Prolonged use can lead to glitchy audio. Allow your speaker some downtime if used extensively.

JBL Flip 5 Not Connecting to Audio Source or Not Detectable

  1. Enable Bluetooth:
    • Ensure Bluetooth is activated on both the Flip 5 and the audio source.
    • Access your device’s settings, activate Bluetooth, and then hold the Bluetooth button on the Flip 5 to initiate pairing mode.
    • In your device’s Bluetooth settings, locate and select your speaker to connect.

  5. Update Firmware:
    • Use the JBL Connect App to check for and install any available firmware updates for the Flip 5.
  6. Factory Reset:
    • If all else fails, perform a factory reset by holding the Play and Volume up buttons on the Flip 5 for about 5 seconds until the speaker restarts.

JBL Flip 5 Connected but No Sound

If your JBL Flip 5 is connected to the audio source and not producing any sound, here’s how you can solve it.

  • Check the Audio Settings: Maybe, you messed up the audio settings by selecting the wrong audio input. So, see if you have chosen the correct audio input. 
  • Increase the Volume: Simply get up and press the volume up button to increase the volume, as your speaker might be muted or would be at a very low volume, making you think that there’s no sound.
  • Replace the Audio Cable: If you have connected the audio source to the Flip 5 using an Aux 3.5mm cable or USB cable, you might want to see the cable for damages. Replace the cable with a new one and test the connection to see if the problem is resolved.
  • Restart JBL Flip 5 and Audio Source: A simple restart can do wonders! Turn off your Speake and Audio source and let it rest briefly. Now turn the devices back on to see if the No-sound issue has been resolved.
