Connectivity:

Since both speakers provide wireless connectivity, they use Bluetooth to connect with the Audio source. JBL Flip 5 uses Bluetooth 4.2, whereas Flip 6 has Bluetooth 5.1, with a better range than the former, i.e., 200 meters. It provides the JBL Flip 6 with a better transfer rate and audio field.
Furthermore, they both support the JBL PartyBoost feature to connect several JBL speakers for a better and more immersive audio experience.

Software:

JBL Flip 5 and 6 use the JBL portable app, but some software features subdue the JBL Flip 5 with slight precision. With the JBL app, both speakers can use PartyBoost Feature, which allows you to connect up to 100 JBL speakers simultaneously for an immersive audio experience.

However, the firmware of JBL Flip 6 has an Equalizer functionality, which is like having your personal magic wand. It allows you to control and tweak the bass, treble, and mid-range frequency to get the perfect sound for your ears. For instance, if you like something mellow and mild, you can adjust the treble and mid-range frequency to create a smooth sound. Now, this is something that JBL Flip 5 software can’t do.

Audio Quality and Frequency Response:

Aren’t we all here because we want the best audio quality JBL Flip speaker?
I don’t see why anyone should settle for anything less than the best, for which you might be interested to find out which of the two titans in JBL Flip 6 VS JBL Flip 5 has a better audio quality.
Well, honestly, if you’re not an audiophile, you won’t feel any difference between the audio quality of both speakers; it’s more like the 19-20 difference.

Both the Titans are standing shoulder to shoulder in this combat. So, how would we know which one stands out?

The only difference is JBL Flip 6 comes with larger drivers, a passive radiator, and an extra tweeter, which helps add the cherry to the high-frequency audio. The JBL Flip 6 subdues the other one in combat with its ability to EQ the sound. It’s a feature in the JBL portable Firmware app that gives Flip 6 Equalizer functionality.

Impressive, isn’t it?

Your Budget has a huge influence on your choices. Of course, you don’t want to go broke for the whole month after buying one speaker.
So, the price range is another important factor in choosing speakers. JBL Flip 6, the new kid in the block and with a few new features, is an expensive option compared to JBL Flip 5. The price range of the JBL Flip 6 is $130-$140, whereas you can get a JBL Flip 5 speaker for $90-110.
